IGCSE — the short version
The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is a two-year qualification for students aged roughly 14 to 16, offered principally by Cambridge International (CAIE) and Pearson Edexcel. Cambridge grades on a 9–1 or A*–G scale depending on the syllabus, and many subjects are tiered, with Core and Extended papers that cap the attainable grade. Because each subject has its own syllabus code and assessment structure, teaching that is not matched to the exact code and tier wastes time on content that will never be examined. Tabish Tutors teaches IGCSE one-to-one online against the published specification and past papers, with written feedback on every marked script.
What we cover
Full IGCSE coverage — nothing quietly skipped
We teach to the specification, not to a summary of it. Here is exactly what is on the table.
Mathematics & Sciences
- Mathematics (Core & Extended) and Additional Mathematics
- Physics — forces, energy, waves, electricity, atomic physics
- Chemistry — stoichiometry, bonding, organic, electrochemistry
- Biology — cells, transport, coordination, genetics, ecology
- Combined and Co-ordinated Sciences (double award)
English & Humanities
- English Language — directed writing, composition, reading responses
- English Literature — poetry, prose, drama, unseen response
- Business Studies and Economics
- Geography, History and Global Perspectives
Exam Skill Layer
- Reading the command words: state, describe, explain, evaluate
- Mark allocation — how many points a 6-mark answer needs
- Practical and alternative-to-practical paper technique
- Working under paper timing, question by question

Diagnosis first
IGCSE marks slip for a small number of fixable reasons
We find which one it is in the first session, then teach against it. Vague effort does not move a score; a named cause does.
The wrong tier is being prepared
A student prepared on Extended material but entered for Core wastes months; the reverse caps the grade. Confirming the tier in session one is not administrative detail — it decides the whole plan.
Command words are being ignored
"Describe" and "explain" earn different marks for different content. Students who answer every question the same way lose marks on questions they fully understand.
Answers are too short for the marks
A six-mark question needs six creditable points. Students routinely write two good sentences and lose two-thirds of the marks without realising why.
Past papers start too late
Papers attempted three weeks out only expose problems. Started early, they become the teaching tool that fixes them.
The plan
How the course actually runs
A written plan agreed before the first paid lesson, so you always know what stage the student is in.

How it works
From first message to first lesson
Four steps, no directory to sort through, no commitment before the demo.
Tell us about the student
Curriculum, board, current grade, target grade, and the topics actually causing trouble. Two minutes on WhatsApp is usually enough.
We match the tutor
We hand-pick one specialist for your exact specification. You are not sent a directory to sort through — the match is our job.
Free trial lesson
A real teaching session with the tutor who would teach the course. No payment, no card details, no commitment.
Lessons and weekly reports
The same tutor every week, a written plan, and a progress report to the parent so nobody is guessing whether it is working.
Who teaches it
Faculty for IGCSE
You are matched to one of these specialists — and you keep them.
Every enquiry reaches the academic team first. They read what the student is actually stuck on, identify the exact board and paper, and match a subject specialist who teaches that syllabus week in and week out — not the next tutor on a list. The team sets the study plan, reviews progress reports before they are sent, and steps in to reassign a tutor if the match is not right after the first lesson. They also answer the WhatsApp line during teaching hours.
Questions parents ask
IGCSE — frequently asked questions
Both, and we teach to whichever your school enters you for. The subject content overlaps but the paper structures, command words and mark schemes differ, so the syllabus code is confirmed before teaching starts.
Yes. A significant share of our IGCSE students are private candidates. We teach the full course and guide you through registering with a local British Council or authorised examination centre.
Not on Core — the tier caps the maximum grade in most tiered subjects. If the target requires a higher grade, the tier has to change, which is a conversation with the school and needs enough runway. We will tell you honestly whether the timeline allows it.
Yes, and the tutor marks them. A past paper you mark yourself tells you the score; a past paper marked by a tutor tells you why.
One to two per subject during term, rising in the final six to eight weeks. Students starting a subject from scratch as private candidates usually need more.
