Pearson Edexcel — the short version
Pearson Edexcel is one of the largest UK awarding organisations, offering GCSEs, International GCSEs and A Levels alongside BTEC vocational qualifications, and its qualifications are taught in schools across the UK and internationally. Although the subject content overlaps with other boards, Edexcel papers have their own question style, mark-scheme wording and specification structure, and its International A Levels use a modular unit system that differs from the linear UK A Level. Tabish Tutors teaches Edexcel one-to-one online against the specific specification and unit codes, with Edexcel past papers marked to Edexcel mark schemes.

Who this is for
Is Edexcel tutoring right for your student?
- Students entered for Edexcel rather than another board
- International A Level students taking modular units
- Students resitting a specific Edexcel unit to lift a grade
- Students whose school teaches from another board's resources
- Private candidates registering with Pearson centres
What you get
Outcomes we commit to
- Teaching built on the Edexcel specification, not a generic version
- Edexcel past papers marked to Edexcel mark schemes
- Method marks protected by how answers are written
- For modular routes, the right unit targeted for resit
Diagnosis first
Edexcel marks slip for a small number of fixable reasons
We find which one it is in the first session, then teach against it. Vague effort does not move a score; a named cause does.
Studying from another board's resources
Revision guides and videos aimed at a different board cover different content in a different order with different command words. It is the single most common Edexcel problem we see.
The wrong unit is being resat
On modular International A Levels, one weak unit usually holds the grade. Retaking the wrong one costs a whole series.
Method marks are being thrown away
Edexcel schemes award method generously. Students who work in their heads and write only the answer lose marks they had already earned.
The formulae booklet is unfamiliar
Knowing what is given and what must be recalled changes how you revise. Students discover this in the exam far too often.
The plan
How the course actually runs
A written plan agreed before the first paid lesson, so you always know what stage the student is in.
Unit Confirmation
Session 1
- Confirm specification code and unit entries
- Confirm modular or linear route
- Baseline on a real Edexcel paper
- Plan around the January, June or October series
Specification Teaching
Core
- Content taught unit by unit to Edexcel scope
- Edexcel notation and formulae booklet use
- Worked examples from Edexcel questions
- Unit tests marked to Edexcel schemes
Paper Style
Skill build
- Edexcel question phrasing and command words
- Mark-scheme wording that earns the point
- Method marks protected even when the answer is wrong
- Timing modelled on real Edexcel papers
Resit Strategy
Where relevant
- Identify exactly which unit is holding the grade
- Target only that unit rather than re-teaching everything
- Uniform mark tracking across units
- Entry deadlines mapped for the chosen series
How it works
From first message to first lesson
Four steps, no directory to sort through, no commitment before the demo.
Tell us about the student
Curriculum, board, current grade, target grade, and the topics actually causing trouble. Two minutes on WhatsApp is usually enough.
We match the tutor
We hand-pick one specialist for your exact specification. You are not sent a directory to sort through — the match is our job.
Free trial lesson
A real teaching session with the tutor who would teach the course. No payment, no card details, no commitment.
Lessons and weekly reports
The same tutor every week, a written plan, and a progress report to the parent so nobody is guessing whether it is working.
Who teaches it
Faculty for Pearson Edexcel
You are matched to one of these specialists — and you keep them.
Every enquiry reaches the academic team first. They read what the student is actually stuck on, identify the exact board and paper, and match a subject specialist who teaches that syllabus week in and week out — not the next tutor on a list. The team sets the study plan, reviews progress reports before they are sent, and steps in to reassign a tutor if the match is not right after the first lesson. They also answer the WhatsApp line during teaching hours.
Questions parents ask
Edexcel — frequently asked questions
Pearson is the awarding organisation and Edexcel is the qualification brand it awards, which is why you will see "Pearson Edexcel" on papers. We teach across both the Edexcel academic qualifications and Pearson's wider portfolio.
Edexcel International A Levels are modular — you sit units and can resit individual ones — while UK A Levels are linear with everything examined at the end. The teaching plan differs substantially, so we confirm which you are on first.
Yes, and the tutor marks them to the Edexcel mark scheme with written comments rather than returning a score.
