ICS — Intermediate in Computer Science — the short version

ICS (Intermediate in Computer Science) is a two-year Pakistani intermediate programme taken as Part I and Part II. Every ICS student studies Computer Science and Mathematics, plus one elective — most commonly Physics, and in some boards Statistics or Economics — alongside English, Urdu, Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies. The Computer Science papers combine written theory with a practical component, so programming has to be practised at a keyboard rather than learned from notes. Tabish Tutors teaches ICS one-to-one online with live code, board-pattern paper practice and full Mathematics support.

What we cover

Full ICS coverage — nothing quietly skipped

We teach to the specification, not to a summary of it. Here is exactly what is on the table.

Computer Science — Part I

  • Basics of information technology and computer systems
  • Information networks and data communication
  • Data storage, security, copyright and ethics
  • Operating systems and application software
  • Introduction to programming and problem solving

Computer Science — Part II

  • Data types, variables, operators and expressions
  • Control structures: selection and iteration
  • Functions, arrays and pointers
  • Structures, files and data handling
  • Database concepts, SQL and the practical paper

Mathematics

  • Quadratic equations, matrices and determinants
  • Sequences, series and binomial theorem
  • Trigonometry: identities, functions and equations
  • Limits, differentiation and integration
  • Analytic geometry, vectors and linear programming

Elective options

  • Physics — full Part I and Part II board syllabus
  • Statistics — data description, probability, distributions, sampling
  • Economics — micro, macro, national income and Pakistan's economy

Who this is for

Is ICS tutoring right for your student?

  • ICS Part I students starting programming from zero
  • ICS Part II students whose Maths is dragging the aggregate down
  • Students preparing for the Computer Science practical exam
  • Students planning BSCS or Software Engineering admission tests

What you get

Outcomes we commit to

  • A student who can write, trace and debug code without notes
  • Mathematics brought up to the level the aggregate needs
  • Practical and viva rehearsed before exam day
  • Board-pattern past papers completed and marked

Diagnosis first

ICS marks slip for a small number of fixable reasons

We find which one it is in the first session, then teach against it. Vague effort does not move a score; a named cause does.

Programs are memorised, not written

Students learn ten programs by heart and freeze when the board changes one condition. We teach the student to write code, so the change stops mattering.

Maths quietly decides the aggregate

ICS students often invest everything in Computer Science and let Mathematics slide. Maths carries the same weight — and it is where most ICS aggregates are lost.

The practical is left to chance

The practical and viva carry real marks and are rarely rehearsed. We run practice practicals before the exam so the room is familiar.

Theory is treated as common sense

IT theory looks easy and is answered vaguely. Board marks need defined terms and specific examples, which is a writing skill, not an intuition.

The plan

How the course actually runs

A written plan agreed before the first paid lesson, so you always know what stage the student is in.

Foundations

Part I

  • Computer systems and IT theory taught to the paper
  • Algorithmic thinking before syntax
  • Maths chapters aligned with the school pace
  • Weekly written quizzes

Programming

Part II

  • Live coding in every session — student writes, tutor reviews
  • Dry runs and trace tables the board asks for
  • Common exam programs written from memory under time
  • Debugging as a taught skill

Mathematics Push

Parallel

  • Calculus taught in full, not skimmed
  • Long questions practised to the mark split
  • Formula recall drilled to automatic
  • Chapter tests to board timing

Practical & Papers

Final phase

  • Practical exam rehearsal
  • Viva questions prepared
  • Full past papers under timed conditions
  • Aggregate strategy across all subjects

How it works

From first message to first lesson

Four steps, no directory to sort through, no commitment before the demo.

01

Tell us about the student

Curriculum, board, current grade, target grade, and the topics actually causing trouble. Two minutes on WhatsApp is usually enough.

02

We match the tutor

We hand-pick one specialist for your exact specification. You are not sent a directory to sort through — the match is our job.

03

Free trial lesson

A real teaching session with the tutor who would teach the course. No payment, no card details, no commitment.

04

Lessons and weekly reports

The same tutor every week, a written plan, and a progress report to the parent so nobody is guessing whether it is working.

A grade

Zoya M.

ICS Part II — 92% in Computer Science

“My son could not write a single program without looking at his notes. Sir Usman made him type code in every class. By the practical exam he was writing programs from scratch and the viva did not scare him.”

Questions parents ask

ICS — frequently asked questions

No — most ICS Part I students start from zero. We begin with logic and problem solving before syntax, which is why students who start here rarely develop the fear of code that shows up later.

Yes. We rehearse the practical, prepare likely viva questions, and make sure the student can write the standard programs under time and without notes.

Yes. Many ICS students take one subject with us and manage the rest at school. Tell us what you need on WhatsApp and we will scope it honestly.
