Advanced Placement (AP) Exams — the short version
Advanced Placement (AP) exams are College Board courses scored from 1 to 5 and sat each May, with a 3 or above commonly accepted for university credit in the United States. Most AP exams combine multiple-choice questions with free-response questions (FRQs) that are marked against a published, point-by-point scoring guideline. Tabish Tutors teaches AP one-to-one online with FRQ technique drilled directly against those rubrics, because at AP level the difference between a 4 and a 5 is usually presentation of method rather than knowledge.

Who this is for
Is AP tutoring right for your student?
- Students taking AP subjects at school who need subject-specific depth
- Self-studying AP candidates with no school teacher for that subject
- Students converting a predicted 3 into a 4 or 5
- Applicants using AP scores to strengthen a US or Canadian application
What you get
Outcomes we commit to
- Complete coverage of the official Course & Exam Description, not just school notes
- FRQ answers built to earn each rubric point explicitly
- Timed past papers with rubric-based marking
- Clear predicted score so there are no surprises in July
Diagnosis first
AP marks slip for a small number of fixable reasons
We find which one it is in the first session, then teach against it. Vague effort does not move a score; a named cause does.
Knowledge is there, the rubric is not
AP free-response marks are awarded for specific stated steps. Students who "know it" but skip the justification line lose the point every time. We drill answers against the actual scoring guideline.
Units get skipped at school
School AP courses often run out of time before the last two units — which still appear on the exam. We map the whole Course & Exam Description and cover what was missed.
Multiple choice is treated as easy
The MCQ section carries most of the composite score in several AP subjects. Students who spend all their revision on FRQs cap themselves at a 3.
Practice papers are never marked
Attempting past papers without applying the rubric teaches nothing. Every paper here comes back annotated with where the points were and were not earned.
The plan
How the course actually runs
A written plan agreed before the first paid lesson, so you always know what stage the student is in.
Course Mapping
Start
- Unit-by-unit map against the official Course & Exam Description
- Identify units already covered at school
- Set the revision order by exam weighting
- Agree the May exam timeline
Concept Teaching
Core
- Full teaching of each unit, not revision-only
- Worked examples in the exam's own notation
- Lab and experimental design where the paper requires it
- Unit quizzes marked with feedback
FRQ Technique
Exam skill
- Free-response answered against the real scoring guideline
- Method marks: showing the step that earns the point
- Justification language examiners accept
- Time control across the free-response section
Full Papers
Final phase
- Past papers under timed conditions
- Self-marking against the published rubric
- Predicted-score tracking
- Targeted repair of the units still losing points
How it works
From first message to first lesson
Four steps, no directory to sort through, no commitment before the demo.
Tell us about the student
Curriculum, board, current grade, target grade, and the topics actually causing trouble. Two minutes on WhatsApp is usually enough.
We match the tutor
We hand-pick one specialist for your exact specification. You are not sent a directory to sort through — the match is our job.
Free trial lesson
A real teaching session with the tutor who would teach the course. No payment, no card details, no commitment.
Lessons and weekly reports
The same tutor every week, a written plan, and a progress report to the parent so nobody is guessing whether it is working.
Who teaches it
Faculty for Advanced Placement (AP) Exams
You are matched to one of these specialists — and you keep them.
Bilal teaches FSc Pre-Engineering Physics and Mathematics, AP Physics and AP Calculus. His students report the same thing: the numericals stop being frightening once the method is separated from the numbers.
Sana teaches FSc Pre-Medical Biology and Chemistry and AP Biology, and prepares students for the transition into MDCAT. She rebuilds Part I foundations while teaching Part II, which is why her Part II students rarely collapse in the second year.
Usman teaches ICS Computer Science and AP Computer Science A. Every session involves the student writing code live, because programs that are memorised do not survive a changed exam question.

AP Calculus BC and AP Physics C: Mechanics
“My school ran out of time and never taught the last two units. I self-studied them with Sir Bilal against the official Course and Exam Description. Fives in both papers.”

Yes. A large share of our AP students are self-studying and register as independent candidates. We teach the full course from the beginning and help with the exam registration process.
