GCSE — the short version
GCSEs are the qualifications taken by students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland at around age 16, awarded chiefly by AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR. Since the reforms completed in 2019 they are graded 9 to 1, with 9 the highest and a grade 4 usually treated as a standard pass. Mathematics and the Sciences are tiered — Foundation tier caps the achievable grade, Higher tier does not — so entry decisions materially affect outcomes. Tabish Tutors teaches GCSE one-to-one online against the specific board specification, with past papers marked to the published mark scheme.

Diagnosis first
GCSE marks slip for a small number of fixable reasons
We find which one it is in the first session, then teach against it. Vague effort does not move a score; a named cause does.
Foundation tier is capping the grade
Foundation tier cannot award the top grades. Students aiming at 6 and above who sit Foundation have their ceiling set before they enter the room.
Extended answers have no structure
9 and 16-mark questions are marked on levels, not points. Answers that ramble score in the bottom band even when the science or history is correct.
Required practicals are skipped
Practical questions carry guaranteed marks and are the most predictable content on the science papers. They are also the first thing rushed schools drop.
Revision is re-reading
Reading notes feels productive and changes almost nothing. Retrieval practice and marked past questions are what move grades.

How the course actually runs
A written plan agreed before the first paid lesson, so you always know what stage the student is in.

How it works
From first message to first lesson
Four steps, no directory to sort through, no commitment before the demo.
Tell us about the student
Curriculum, board, current grade, target grade, and the topics actually causing trouble. Two minutes on WhatsApp is usually enough.
We match the tutor
We hand-pick one specialist for your exact specification. You are not sent a directory to sort through — the match is our job.
Free trial lesson
A real teaching session with the tutor who would teach the course. No payment, no card details, no commitment.
Lessons and weekly reports
The same tutor every week, a written plan, and a progress report to the parent so nobody is guessing whether it is working.
Who teaches it
Faculty for GCSE
You are matched to one of these specialists — and you keep them.
Every enquiry reaches the academic team first. They read what the student is actually stuck on, identify the exact board and paper, and match a subject specialist who teaches that syllabus week in and week out — not the next tutor on a list. The team sets the study plan, reviews progress reports before they are sent, and steps in to reassign a tutor if the match is not right after the first lesson. They also answer the WhatsApp line during teaching hours.
Questions parents ask
GCSE — frequently asked questions
AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and WJEC/Eduqas. The board is confirmed in the first session because the specifications and mark schemes differ meaningfully.
Yes. Resits are a short, focused campaign — we work from the specific paper the student sat, identify where the marks were actually lost, and target that rather than re-teaching everything.
Combined Science awards two GCSE grades across Biology, Chemistry and Physics; separate Sciences award three, with more content in each. We teach both — tell us which your school entered you for.
Yes. We teach students following the British curriculum in international schools across the Gulf, Asia, Africa and Europe, scheduled around your local time zone.
