General

About Tabish Tutors

IGCSE, GCSE, O Levels, A Levels and the wider British curriculum from Key Stage 1 upward; the IB Diploma Programme and MYP; the Edexcel, AQA, OCR, Pearson, SQA and Nelson routes; Combined Sciences; the IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and German language examinations; and SAT, AP, GMAT and GRE. We also teach Pakistani intermediate qualifications — FSc, ICS, I.Com and GAT.

For one-to-one teaching, yes — and often better, because the session can be recorded, the whiteboard is shareable, and nobody loses an hour in traffic. What makes it work is that the tutor is a specialist in the exact specification being sat, and that the same tutor stays with the student.

Message us on WhatsApp at +92 300 4568992, email info@tabishtutors.com, or submit the callback form on this site. Tell us the curriculum, board and subject and we will schedule the trial lesson with a matched specialist, usually within one working day.

Yes. We teach students in over 20 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Singapore, Malaysia, the United States, Canada, Australia and across Europe. Lessons are scheduled to your local time zone.

Fees depend on the curriculum, the subject and the number of sessions per week, so we quote per student rather than publishing a rate card that would be wrong for most families. Message us with the details and you will get a straight number before any trial lesson.

Always. Boards differ in content emphasis, command words and mark schemes, so we confirm the exact board, specification code and tier in the first session and teach against that specification, using that board's past papers.

Tell us after the first lesson and we rematch you with another specialist at no extra cost. Matching is our job — if we get it wrong, fixing it is also our job.

A laptop, tablet or phone with a stable internet connection, and ideally a headset. Sessions run on Zoom or Google Meet with a shared digital whiteboard, and can be recorded for later revision on request.

We provide academic writing support — coaching, structuring, editing and proofreading — and full preparation of application documents such as personal statements, statements of purpose and CVs. For graded coursework we coach and edit so the work stays the student's own and can be defended.

Yes. Schedules are built around the student, including intensive blocks before the exam series and lighter maintenance weeks during term.

Yes. The trial lesson is a full teaching session with the tutor who would teach the course, and no payment details are required to book it.

Curriculum

IGCSE — FAQ

Both, and we teach to whichever your school enters you for. The subject content overlaps but the paper structures, command words and mark schemes differ, so the syllabus code is confirmed before teaching starts.

Yes. A significant share of our IGCSE students are private candidates. We teach the full course and guide you through registering with a local British Council or authorised examination centre.

Not on Core — the tier caps the maximum grade in most tiered subjects. If the target requires a higher grade, the tier has to change, which is a conversation with the school and needs enough runway. We will tell you honestly whether the timeline allows it.

Yes, and the tutor marks them. A past paper you mark yourself tells you the score; a past paper marked by a tutor tells you why.

One to two per subject during term, rising in the final six to eight weeks. Students starting a subject from scratch as private candidates usually need more.

Curriculum

GCSE — FAQ

AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and WJEC/Eduqas. The board is confirmed in the first session because the specifications and mark schemes differ meaningfully.

Yes. Resits are a short, focused campaign — we work from the specific paper the student sat, identify where the marks were actually lost, and target that rather than re-teaching everything.

Combined Science awards two GCSE grades across Biology, Chemistry and Physics; separate Sciences award three, with more content in each. We teach both — tell us which your school entered you for.

Yes. We teach students following the British curriculum in international schools across the Gulf, Asia, Africa and Europe, scheduled around your local time zone.

Curriculum

Cambridge O Levels — FAQ

They are both Cambridge qualifications at the same level and are treated equivalently by schools and universities. The differences are in paper structure and in coursework and practical availability on certain subjects. We teach to whichever your centre enters you for.

Yes, through the British Council or an authorised examination centre. We teach the full course and help you plan registration deadlines around the series you want.

For a full subject taught from the beginning, six to nine months. For targeted repair of specific topics, six to ten weeks can move a grade. We will tell you which situation you are in after the diagnostic.

Curriculum

A Levels (AS & A2) — FAQ

Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, AQA and OCR. Specifications differ in option units and paper structure, so we confirm yours before teaching begins.

Usually yes, and it is a different course from a foundation course. At that level the work is precision — eliminating the last careless errors and lifting evaluation into the top band. It typically needs eight to twelve focused weeks.

Yes, alongside Mathematics or on its own, including complex numbers, matrices, differential equations and the applied options.

Yes — our writing service prepares personal statements and UCAS applications, and we can advise on grade requirements for specific courses.

Curriculum

The British Curriculum — FAQ

This is one of the most common reasons families come to us. We establish the actual working level rather than assuming the year group, find what the previous curriculum sequenced differently, and close those gaps while keeping pace with the new school.

Yes, from Key Stage 1 upward. Younger sessions are shorter and more frequent, and we report to the parent after each block.

Yes — including assessment preparation in English and Mathematics, and bridging any content the previous system covered later or not at all.

Curriculum

Combined & Co-ordinated Sciences — FAQ

Combined suits students who need a solid science grade without three separate papers; Triple suits students heading for A Level Sciences. Combined does not close the door to A Level at most schools. We will give you a straight view once we have seen the diagnostic.

We assign a specialist per discipline where the weakness warrants it, and one tutor where the student needs continuity more than depth. The diagnostic decides which.

Yes, explicitly — including the variables, the method, the expected results and the question patterns that come from them.

IB Programme

IB Diploma Programme — FAQ

Yes — with scoping the research question, structuring against the criteria, handling data and evaluating results, and with feedback on drafts within the IB academic-honesty rules. We supervise and teach; the work remains the student's own.

Both Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation, at Higher and Standard Level, including Paper 3 at HL and the Mathematics Exploration.

Yes — question framing, research planning, structure, referencing and draft feedback. The EE and TOK together are worth up to three points and are the most commonly under-served part of the Diploma.

It depends on how much time remains and where the marks are being lost. A student losing marks to command terms and IA scope can move several points quickly; content gaps take longer. We give you an honest read after the diagnostic.

IB Programme

IB Middle Years Programme — FAQ

Each subject group defines them slightly differently, but broadly A is knowing and understanding, B is investigating or inquiring, C is communicating, and D is applying in context or reflecting. Each is marked out of 8, and the combination converts to the 1–7 subject grade.

Yes — scoping the goal, keeping the process journal properly, structuring the report and writing reflections against the criteria. We supervise and coach; the project stays the student's own work.

It prepares the skills very well and the content less evenly, because MYP is a framework rather than a fixed syllabus. We assess content readiness honestly before DP1 so gaps are closed before they matter.

Examination Board

Pearson Edexcel — FAQ

Pearson is the awarding organisation and Edexcel is the qualification brand it awards, which is why you will see "Pearson Edexcel" on papers. We teach across both the Edexcel academic qualifications and Pearson's wider portfolio.

Edexcel International A Levels are modular — you sit units and can resit individual ones — while UK A Levels are linear with everything examined at the end. The teaching plan differs substantially, so we confirm which you are on first.

Yes, and the tutor marks them to the Edexcel mark scheme with written comments rather than returning a score.

Examination Board

AQA — FAQ

Both are AQA Combined Science routes awarding two GCSE grades. Trilogy keeps Biology, Chemistry and Physics as distinct papers; Synergy organises the content into cross-discipline topics with a different paper structure. We teach both — tell us which your school entered you for.

By level of response — the examiner places the whole answer in a band based on the quality of the argument and evaluation, then fine-tunes within it. That is why structure matters more than the number of facts included.

Yes. Examiner reports state plainly what candidates got wrong each series, and those patterns repeat. We teach against them directly.

Examination Board

OCR — FAQ

The specification code on the exam timetable or textbook tells you, and we confirm it in the first session. Getting this wrong wastes months, so we never assume.

Yes, including the modelling-led approach and the interpretation questions that distinguish MEI from OCR A.

Yes — through design, development, testing and evaluation, within the rules on what a supervisor may advise. The code stays the student's own work.

Examination Board

Pearson Qualifications — FAQ

Both are Pearson qualifications. Edexcel is academic and examination-based; BTEC is vocational, assessed mainly through assignments graded Pass, Merit and Distinction, with some externally assessed units. They need completely different preparation.

We coach and teach — decoding the brief, planning the evidence, teaching the analysis that Distinction criteria require, and reviewing drafts within the rules on permitted assistance. The submitted work stays the student's own.

Widely, yes, often alongside or in place of A Levels, though specific courses set their own requirements. Check the course entry profile — and we can help you read it.

Examination Board

SQA — Scottish Qualifications — FAQ

National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher, across Mathematics, the Sciences, English and Business subjects.

Higher is normally a one-year course taken around age 16 to 17 and is the standard route into Scottish universities; Advanced Higher then sits close to first-year undergraduate level. A Levels run over two years. Universities outside Scotland usually ask for Advanced Highers or additional Highers.

Yes — planning, method, analysis and the write-up, within SQA rules on permitted support. We teach and supervise; the work stays the student's own.

Curriculum Resources

Nelson Curriculum Resources — FAQ

No — Nelson is an educational publisher. Its books are used to teach qualifications awarded by bodies such as Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel or a national curriculum. We teach from the book and keep the actual specification in view.

If your school uses them you will already have them, and that is all we need. Tell us the title and edition and we will work from it.

It generally will not, and that is exactly why we check the book against the specification in the first session and cover the difference separately.

Language Test

IELTS Academic & General Training — FAQ

Academic is for university admission and most professional registration; General Training is for migration and many work visas. The requirement is set by the body you are applying to — confirm it with them, because sitting the wrong version means sitting again.

Typically eight to fourteen weeks, because the gap is usually a specific criterion rather than general English. Candidates who need to raise all four components take longer, and we tell you which situation you are in after the diagnostic.

Yes — every one, against Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource and Grammatical Range and Accuracy, with a band per criterion and written comments.

Neither is easier; the content and scoring are the same. Computer delivery gives faster results and easier editing in Writing, while paper suits candidates who annotate heavily. We prepare you for whichever you choose.

Two years is the standard validity accepted by most institutions, though some set their own shorter window. Always confirm with the receiving organisation.

Language Test

TOEFL iBT — FAQ

Each section is reported as a band from 1.0 to 6.0 in half-point steps, and the overall band is the average of the four, rounded to the nearest half point. The old 0–30 per section and 0–120 total no longer apply. Check what your university requires, as institutions updated their thresholds at different times.

Most universities accept both. TOEFL is now shorter and fully computer-delivered with an adaptive structure; IELTS is longer, includes a face-to-face style speaking interview and reports on the familiar 0–9 band scale. We baseline you on both before you commit if you are undecided.

Eight to twelve weeks is typical for a meaningful gain. Candidates already close to target and only needing format familiarity can be ready faster.

The published specification puts total test time at roughly one hour and 25 minutes including the adaptive routing sections. It is markedly shorter than the previous format, which changes pacing strategy completely.

Language Test

PTE Academic — FAQ

Most candidates receive results within two business days, and in some cases up to five depending on processing. That speed is a common reason candidates choose PTE when working to a visa deadline.

Not easier, but different. PTE is fully computer-marked, which removes interview nerves but rewards clear, steady delivery and precise adherence to item rules. Candidates who plateau on IELTS Speaking sometimes do better on PTE, and the reverse is also true.

It depends entirely on the university or immigration authority. Common thresholds are 58, 65 and 79 overall, often with minimums in each skill. Confirm the requirement with the receiving body before you start.

Yes, with a skill-level breakdown, so we can see exactly which item types are costing points rather than guessing from an overall number.

Language

German Language (A1 – C2) — FAQ

It depends on the purpose. Family reunion visas commonly require A1; many work and nursing registration routes require B1 or B2; degree study in Germany usually requires TestDaF or DSH at C1 level. Confirm with the university, embassy or regulator before you start, and we will build the plan around it.

As a rough guide, each level from A1 to B1 takes in the region of 150 to 250 hours of study, with the higher levels taking longer. Progress depends heavily on how much practice happens between lessons, and we will give you an honest timeline after the placement assessment.

Yes — including IGCSE, GCSE, A Level and IB German B, alongside the Goethe and telc certificates.

Yes. A1 assumes no prior knowledge, and we begin with pronunciation and sentence structure from the first lesson.

Admissions Test

Digital SAT — FAQ

Most students need 10 to 16 weeks at two sessions per week. A student starting near 1100 and targeting 1400+ usually needs the longer end. We tell you the honest timeline after the diagnostic test, not before.

The Digital SAT only. It is a module-adaptive test taken in the Bluebook app, and the strategy is materially different from the retired paper test.

Yes. Above 1400 the work becomes precision: eliminating the last two or three careless errors per module and controlling timing. That is a different course from a foundation course, and we run it differently.

Yes. Full-length Bluebook-style mocks are included in the course, marked by the tutor with a written error log — not auto-scored and forgotten.

Yes. The trial lesson is a real teaching session with the tutor who would teach the course. No card details are required. Message our academic team on WhatsApp at +92 300 4568992 to book it.

Advanced Placement (AP) Exams — FAQ

Calculus AB and BC, Statistics, Precalculus, Physics 1, 2 and C, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Computer Science A and Principles, Micro and Macroeconomics, Psychology, Human Geography, World History, and both AP English courses. If your subject is not listed, message us and we will tell you honestly whether we can staff it.

Yes. A large share of our AP students are self-studying and register as independent candidates. We teach the full course from the beginning and help with the exam registration process.

Two per subject is the norm during term, rising to three in the final six weeks before the May exams. Intensive courses can be arranged for self-study candidates starting late.

Yes — released College Board papers with the official scoring guidelines, marked by the tutor.

Intermediate

FSc Pre-Medical & Pre-Engineering — FAQ

Punjab boards (Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Sahiwal), the Federal Board, Sindh boards, KPK boards and AJK. We teach to your board's specific paper pattern.

Yes, and for Part II students we usually have to. Part II content sits on Part I foundations, so we repair the earlier chapters in parallel rather than pretending they are finished.

Yes. FSc and the entry tests overlap heavily, so we flag the overlap during the FSc course and move into dedicated entry-test work after the board exams.

Whichever helps the student learn. Most sessions run bilingually — concepts explained in Urdu where that is clearer, with all technical terms and written answers in exam English.

Intermediate

ICS — Intermediate in Computer Science — FAQ

No — most ICS Part I students start from zero. We begin with logic and problem solving before syntax, which is why students who start here rarely develop the fear of code that shows up later.

Yes. We rehearse the practical, prepare likely viva questions, and make sure the student can write the standard programs under time and without notes.

Yes. Many ICS students take one subject with us and manage the rest at school. Tell us what you need on WhatsApp and we will scope it honestly.

Intermediate

I.Com — Intermediate in Commerce — FAQ

Almost always, and usually quickly. It is nearly always one of four causes — a wrong side, a missed adjustment, a transposed figure, or a balance carried down incorrectly. We diagnose which one it is in the first session.

Sessions run bilingually. Concepts are explained in whichever language makes them land, while all written answers, definitions and formats are practised in exam English.

Yes. Students who learn double entry properly at I.Com level find the professional papers far less punishing. We teach the method, not shortcuts that break later.

Graduate Admissions Test

GAT — Graduate Assessment Test (NTS) — FAQ

Most Pakistani universities set 50% as the qualifying floor for MS and MPhil admission, but competitive programmes admit well above it. Check your specific university, because the floor is not the merit line.

Two years from the test date. Both GAT General and GAT Subject follow the same validity period.

It depends on your intended field of study, not your previous degree. We confirm this with you in the first session — registering in the wrong category is one of the most common and most costly mistakes.

Yes, for PhD applicants. GAT Subject tests your specific field rather than general reasoning, so scoping happens in the first call. Message our academic team on WhatsApp at +92 300 4568992 with your subject.

Testing policy in Pakistan has been in transition, with HEC moving toward its own admission test alongside GRE acceptance at some institutions. Always confirm the current requirement with your target university and on nts.org.pk before you register.

Graduate Admissions Test

GMAT Focus Edition — FAQ

Most business schools now accept both. GMAT Focus suits candidates strong in data reasoning and business logic; GRE suits candidates stronger in vocabulary and academic writing. We look at a baseline of both before you commit — it is a 90-minute decision that can save three months.

For a working professional, 10 to 14 weeks at 8–12 hours per week is realistic for a meaningful score gain. Shorter is possible only if the baseline is already close to target.

GMAC allows multiple attempts within published annual and lifetime limits, with a waiting period between attempts. Check the current policy on mba.com before you book, as the limits are periodically revised.

Our writing services team supports personal statements, essays and CV editing for MBA applications. See the Writing Services page or ask on WhatsApp.

Graduate Admissions Test

GRE General Test — FAQ

One hour and fifty-eight minutes, with 55 questions plus one essay and no scheduled breaks. Preparation material written for the old four-hour test is out of date and misleading on pacing.

It depends on the programme. Competitive US MS programmes typically look for 315+, with strong funding cases often above 320 and a Quant-heavy split for engineering and computing. We set your target against your actual shortlist.

Ten to fourteen weeks is typical for a meaningful gain, largely because vocabulary needs calendar time to consolidate. Shorter plans work only for candidates already near target.

Yes. Essays are marked against the official scoring criteria and returned with a band and specific comments — not just a grade.

Yes, through our writing services. Statements of purpose, personal statements, research proposals and CV editing are all supported. Ask our academic team on WhatsApp at +92 300 4568992.
