AQA — the short version
AQA is the largest provider of GCSEs and A Levels in England, and its specifications are used by a substantial share of UK schools. Its papers are known for level-of-response marking on extended questions, where answers are placed in a band by quality of argument rather than counted point by point, and for the Trilogy and Synergy routes through Combined Science. Preparing on another board's material therefore misleads students about both content and answer structure. Tabish Tutors teaches AQA one-to-one online against the exact specification, with AQA past papers marked to AQA mark schemes and examiner-report guidance built in.

Outcomes we commit to
- Teaching to the exact AQA specification, tier and option topics
- Extended answers built to reach the top response band
- Required practicals treated as examinable content
- AQA past papers marked with the band justified in writing
Diagnosis first
AQA marks slip for a small number of fixable reasons
We find which one it is in the first session, then teach against it. Vague effort does not move a score; a named cause does.
Extended answers sit in the middle band
AQA marks long answers holistically. Students who list correct points without building an argument land in band 2 every time, no matter how much they know.
Evaluation repeats knowledge
AO3 marks require weighing and judging. Restating the content in different words earns nothing extra and is the most common reason for a capped grade.
Required practicals under-revised
AQA examines its required practicals directly and predictably. They are guaranteed marks, routinely left to chance.
Wrong set text or option topic revised
AQA offers choices within specifications. Revising the wrong poem cluster or option topic is catastrophic and entirely avoidable.
The plan
How the course actually runs
A written plan agreed before the first paid lesson, so you always know what stage the student is in.

How it works
From first message to first lesson
Four steps, no directory to sort through, no commitment before the demo.
Tell us about the student
Curriculum, board, current grade, target grade, and the topics actually causing trouble. Two minutes on WhatsApp is usually enough.
We match the tutor
We hand-pick one specialist for your exact specification. You are not sent a directory to sort through — the match is our job.
Free trial lesson
A real teaching session with the tutor who would teach the course. No payment, no card details, no commitment.
Lessons and weekly reports
The same tutor every week, a written plan, and a progress report to the parent so nobody is guessing whether it is working.
Who teaches it
Faculty for AQA
You are matched to one of these specialists — and you keep them.
Every enquiry reaches the academic team first. They read what the student is actually stuck on, identify the exact board and paper, and match a subject specialist who teaches that syllabus week in and week out — not the next tutor on a list. The team sets the study plan, reviews progress reports before they are sent, and steps in to reassign a tutor if the match is not right after the first lesson. They also answer the WhatsApp line during teaching hours.
Questions parents ask
AQA — frequently asked questions
Both are AQA Combined Science routes awarding two GCSE grades. Trilogy keeps Biology, Chemistry and Physics as distinct papers; Synergy organises the content into cross-discipline topics with a different paper structure. We teach both — tell us which your school entered you for.
By level of response — the examiner places the whole answer in a band based on the quality of the argument and evaluation, then fine-tunes within it. That is why structure matters more than the number of facts included.
Yes. Examiner reports state plainly what candidates got wrong each series, and those patterns repeat. We teach against them directly.
